What to expect on our tours:
Explore the fabled cities of Assisi, Perugia, Orvieto, and Spoleto – to name but a few. Savor Umbrian cuisine and wine with a mixture of home cooked meals, visits to extraordinary restaurants, and wine tastings. Discover intimate villages and hill towns and shop for world famous ceramics in Deruta. And you’ll enjoy breathtaking views all along the way.

Day 1: Pick up at Rome Fiumicino, transport to Bettona; lunch at Palazzo; afternoon to relax and explore town; evening meal at local restaurant.
Day 2: Morning visit to the Bosco di San Francesco for a leisurely walk into Assisi. Then explore the town and the spectacular Basilica of San Francesco with frescoes by Giotto, Simone Martini, and Pietro Lorenzetti. Lunch at the delicious La Palotta. Relax time before dinner out at a “sagra” — a traditional local festival.
Day 3: Morning visit to an organic agriturismo for a tour and lunch prepared by the farm’s owner. Visit Montefalco and three cantinas (including Arnoldo Capri and Tenuta Lunelli, designed by Arnoldo Pomodoro) to sample our famous Sagrantino wines. Light dinner at palazzo.
Day 4: Visit Spoleto to see the Filippo Lippi frescoes in the duomo and explore two extraordinary churches outside the walls. On to Norcia for a wonderful lunch and visits to meat/cheese/truffle shops. Then visit mountains above and the spectacular Piano Grande and the hill town of Casteluccio, famous for lentils.
Day 5: Visit the open market of Perugia then on to explore Umbria’s capital. Visit to the National Painting Gallery and Collegio del Cambio with frescoes by Perugino. Head to Bevagna for a dinner of meats grilled on an open hearth.
Day 6: Make and early day of it as we head out to discover the amazing city of Cività Bagnoregio and then on to Orvieto and the duomo there with famed frescoes by Luca Signorelli. After a wonderful lunch we’ll have a wine tasting nearby. Visit Todi on the way back to the palazzo.
Day 7: Relaxed morning as we head to Lago Trasimeno for a walk around the island and then enjoy a delicious lunch lakeside. Stop in Corciano afterwards and then in Deruta – famous for pottery since the 14th century – for some much deserved shopping. Final dinner at the wonderful Osteria i Birbi in Torgiano
Day 8: 8am departure for Fiumicino airport. Please note, flights from Rome should depart early afternoon.
