Book Club Tour

This is one of my favorite tours and always fun for guests who enjoy seeing books come to life. The three books selected (included in cost of tour) will be sent to you asap. And, yes, you’ll have to read them before you get here. Then we’ll go and discover lots of the places you’ve read about.

• The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco
We’ll visit the abbey where the recent TV version of The Name of the Rose was filmed, an 11th century castle village, along with other evocative sites.
• The Lady in the Palazzo by Marlena De Blasi
Explore Orviet, the setting for Marlena DeBlasi’s storey of restoring her beautiful palazzo. A treasure Hunt of Orvieto will also get you to search out the beauty that abounds the streets of the spectacular city.
• The Assisi Underground by Alexander Ramati
Un unbeknownst to many, there was an active underground resistance to Nazi occupied Assisi near the end of the war. We’ll follow in the footsteps of the brave citizens who successfully hid over 300 people from the Germans. We’ll visit a small museum that houses the printing press that was used to forge hundreds of documents as well as the cafe where the resistance met.
A truly moving experience.
